Admittedly he was a little jealous of her,
she was able to hold him like that, touch
his hand in public - something that Steve
had always wanted to do had the feeling
been mutual. But he held no resentment
toward her, he was just happy that there
was someone in this world that kept Tony
happy, just as he deserved to be, it made
him happier to see Tony smile - it was better
seeing him happy with someone else than
to be sad and lonely. It was then he felt the strain in his heart.
The sudden tug at his emotions at the
vocalisation of the dwindling hope the
doctors had for Tony. “Doctors aren’t
always right…” He muttered in a low tone
resonating his denial.
She finally looked over towards him, after what seemed like forever. But in reality, it was a mere few moments. Her face stiffened a bit at Steve’s words, but she couldn’t say anything. He was probably an optimist. “You haven’t been here through everything, Steve. I know exactly what’s going to happen…eventually,” she retorted then glanced down to Tony’s pale hand. “This isn’t fair… We were… I thought he was the one for me…”
